Hair has been one of my greatest passions for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is when I did a French braid on my barbie doll at the age of three! I ran to show my mom after she finished working on one of her clients and she was so excited! You would have thought I solved some great mystery of the universe, but I was just copying what I saw her doing. When I got older, I realized that I had been training my eye to see and fix hair, colors and shapes. My favorite thing to do was braiding. My mom loved to tell the story about how she was getting phone calls in the morning from students, asking if I would be on the bus so I could style their hair for picture day. I was already growing a clientele at the age of ten! By the time I was eleven, I was going into the salon with my mom and the stylists would set me up with a mannequin head and teach me how to do French twists and use a Marcel curling iron. Jump to fourteen years old when I started to watch my mom do highlights and lowlights. I started to ask more questions about chemicals and how to mix different colors for different outcomes. Then I started to experiment on my own hair, still under my mother’s mentorship. My friends all let me practice on their hair, doing different colors and was trusted by my male friends to cut and color their hair too. I did my first sew in when I was fifteen. With my braiding skills and love of sewing, crocheting, knitting and making jewelry, I found my newest love! Being able to braid and sew hair onto peoples heads made me feel like I was knitting a scarf and getting to see someone wear my hard work, but on their head :). By the time I went to Cosmetology School, I had been studying hair for quite some time but did not ever consider doing it full time. After experiencing the loss of loved one in 2015, I realized life was too short not spending every minute doing what I love. So I went to work at a Hair Extension Boutique full time and was able to sharpen my skills and master all methods of hair extensions. After the Covid pandemic, I decided to go out on my own, into a private atmosphere to better serve my clients. I continue to grow in this industry as well as getting the opportunity to teach and mentor new stylists. Sadly my mother is not here to work by my side, but she lives on through me and what she has taught me, cheering me on from Heaven.
